About The Owner:
Carolina Guardian Home Inventory Services, LLC is owned and operated by local Charlestonian David Vaughan. David is a graduate of The Citadel, class of 2000, and has a Bachelor's Degree In Business Administration. He is originally from Greenwood, SC, and has been living in the Charleston area since 1996.
Upon graduating from The Citadel, David began working as an engineering technician for GS2 Engineering & Environmental Consultants, Inc. in Charleston, and after two years became the Charleston area operations manager. After an unfortunate slump in the economy, David was forced to seek employment elsewhere, and became an outside sales representative for Kimball Midwest, an industrial supply company based out of Columbus, Ohio. David is also a musician, and plays the Mandolin with local bluegrass band, The Blue Plantation Band, and has been for the past 9 years. Photography has always been a passion for David as well, and he is in partnership with Your Priceless Pics, a local photography business serving the Charleston area.
After suffering a very significant loss of property from a vehicle theft, David wanted to find a way to help others recover lost items and make the insurance claim process much easier than his experience. His experience is as follows:
"My vehicle was stolen in June of 2009 shortly after one of my band's performances. I stopped to drop my guitar player off at our common meeting spot, which is a well-known and well-lit area just off a major highway in the West Ashley area of Charleston. I parked the vehicle and went inside to get some water for my ride home and speak to some friends. I was inside no longer than 15 minutes and when I returned to the parking lot my truck was GONE!
There was broken glass on the ground and obviously it was recently stolen. Of course I panicked because not only was my truck gone, but my whole lively hood was inside the truck. Since I had just finished a band performance all of my musical instruments and equipment were in the truck, as well as my laptop, ipod, gps, and many other items which combined were worth an estimated $14,000! My heart sunk and I felt completely hopeless and violated.
My truck was recovered 5 days later completely totaled, with nothing inside, of course. Here is where it got really bad. I had no proof or records of anything I had in the truck except for a few items making up only about 15% of what was actually stolen. I held an insurance policy on my items, but without proof of their existence, the policy rendered useless. I received the minimum settlement from my insurance company, which was merely a fraction of what was taken from me. I had to start all over again with nothing, and from that day forward I knew there had to be a way to help others feel secure about their property in the event of a loss, so I decided to help others by providing a professional, affordable service that does just that...provides peace of mind.
I am committed to my work and know from experience what its like to suffer a loss. My goal is to provide peace of mind by professionally documenting your personal property in an efficient, confidential, and affordable manor. Please don't take a chance and have to suffer as I did in the event of a loss"
